He was born in Karakoçan, Elazığ in 1962. Following primary school in Bahçecik, he attended secondary school in Karakoçan and high school in Elazığ. After graduating from Persian Language and Literature in department of Eastern Language and Literature at Atatürk University in 1986, he started his academic career as a research assistant at the same department in 1987. In the Institute of Social Sciences, he received hid M.A. with his thesis entitled Sirâci-yi Sigezî ve Divanı (Sirâci-yi Sigezî and Divan) in 1992 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. M. Nazif ŞAHİNOĞLU and received his PhD with the thesis entitled Ubeyd-i Zâkânî, Toplumsal Görüşleri, Ahlâk ve Felsefesi (Ubeyd-i Zâkânî, His Social Opinions and Moral Philosophy ) in 1996. He became Assistant Professor in 1996 and Associate Professor four years later. He is a professor since 2006. Between 2010 and 2013, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Communication, and Head of the Kurdish Language and Literature Department at Muş Alparslan University. He moved to Bingöl University , Faculty of Science and Literature in 2014. Before he was appointed as the Vice Rector of Bingöl University in 2016, he served as the Head of the Institute of Living Languages, and the Head of the Department of Eastern Languages and Literature . In addition to his sub-committee membership at UAK( inter-universities council ) between 2009 and 2011, he has served as a referee and member of advisory boards and scientific committees at various symposiums and scientific meetings. He speaks Persian, Arabic and English. He is married and has 3 children.
