International Student Center Opens at Bingöl University

As part of its internationalization vision, Bingöl University has taken another significant step by opening the International Student Center, which aims to provide comprehensive support for international students in social, academic, and cultural areas. Established under the coordination of the International Student Office, the center is designed to help students from diverse geographical backgrounds adapt more quickly to university life and enhance their academic success.

Serving approximately 1,200 international students from 48 different countries who have chosen Bingöl University for their higher education, the center will offer a wide range of services, including guidance and counseling, social integration programs, cultural activities, and academic support. More than an administrative unit, the center has been designed as a vibrant space that fosters the integration of international students into university life.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Rector of Bingöl University, Prof. Dr. Erdal Çelik, as well as vice rectors, academic and administrative staff, and numerous students. During the well-attended program, participants were informed about the center’s structure and services, while international students had the opportunity to engage directly with university representatives.

In his opening remarks, Rector Prof. Dr. Erdal Çelik emphasized that the university’s internationalization goals extend beyond quantitative growth and involve a broader qualitative transformation. He stated:

“Internationalization is not merely a strategic choice for our university; it is also a transformative process that shapes our institutional identity. The center we are inaugurating today lies at the heart of this transformation. In this environment, where different cultures come together, we place great importance on supporting our students’ social and cultural development alongside their academic growth.”

Prof. Dr. Çelik also highlighted the university’s commitment to supporting international students in their career development. He noted that the center would play an important role in connecting students with internship opportunities, alumni networks, and entrepreneurial ecosystems.

“Through this center, we will connect our students with internship opportunities, alumni networks, and entrepreneurship ecosystems. Educating individuals who can compete on a global scale is among our primary goals. Twenty years from now, we will see our international alumni making significant contributions in science, industry, arts, and diplomacy across the world.”

During the program, international students also expressed the importance of the center for their university experience, noting that such an initiative would facilitate their adaptation process and strengthen their sense of belonging. Following the ceremony, participants toured the center’s facilities and received detailed information about the services offered.

Through the International Student Center, Bingöl University aims to enhance its global competitiveness, build bridges between different cultures, and support not only the academic achievements of international students but also their social integration processes. As such, the center stands as a concrete reflection of the university’s internationalization policies and its “Next Generation University” vision.
